Ex Ivory coast international, Didier Drogba was mobbed by Montreal fans in USA, as Chelsea legend arrives at airport after agreeing to join MLS side.
Chelsea Legend, Didier Drogba who enjoyed a stellar career in England, France, Turkey and China, left Chelsea this summer after playing 381 games for the Blues and winning the best of the club’s trophies.
The 37-year old appeared to be taken aback by the massive welcome he received in Montreal, USA on Wednesday, as hundreds of fans turned up at Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport to greet the Ivorian star after he agreed to join MLS side, Montreal Impact.
His new club side are currently sixth in the MLS Eastern Conference and took to Twitter to confirm the news on Monday night. Club President, Joey Saputo told the club’s official website:
“It’s an honour to welcome Didier Drogba to the Impact. From the first conversation I had with him, I felt that he really wanted to play in Montreal. This is one of the biggest days in club history and his arrival to the club will be beneficial in every aspect.
He’s had an impact on millions of people since the start of his career and he will continue to do so wearing the Impact colours.”
